The CCR is a non-profit social science research center at Suffolk County Community
College, established in September 1991. The purpose of the CCR is 1) to bring the college
and the community together in an effort to better understand the nature of local issues;
2) to provide students and faculty members with hands-on application of social science
research methodologies as they apply to issues of community concern; and 3) to utilize the
resources of the college, its faculty, and facilities to examine important social issues.
Faculty and students from all SCCC campuses are encouraged to utilize the resources of the
center to gain applied research experiences. Students will find in the CCR a unique
learning opportunity which is not possible in a traditional classroom setting.
The center provides professional and technical supports for a wide variety of community-based projects for non-profit groups, local governmental agencies, and schools. Services include:
The projects of the CCR are self-supporting. That is, all agencies using the center's services absorb the costs of their projects and a percentage of the center's overhead.

Bockino, CCR's executive director and professor of economics at SCCC and Dr. Anthony R. Napoli, CCR's senior research
scientist, and SCCC's administrative director of Institutional Research and Assessment.
